THE LOOK OF STEWARDSHIP! No doubt, life these days is becoming more difficult and uncertain! Even though we believe as baptized Christians that we are no longer captive to sin, death and the devil, how is it possible in the midst of such challenging times to live "abundantly" as our risen Savior promises? The answer can be found in our special ongoing worship series, "New Life in Christ: A Vision of Stewardship!" Throughout the Easter season we will celebrate our congregation�s vision and our call to serve as good stewards of the new life given us through our baptism into the death and resurrection of Christ. NEW LIFE CREATIVITY ACTIVITY begins today. During this morning's worship service all families and individuals will receive a "Mission Possible" assignment package, complete with special instructions (should you choose to accept them). In the next two weeks you are invited to prepare a display showing the ways you have life a new life in Christ as a good steward of the good resources God has given you. On Sunday 18 May we will celebrate and share our displays as a part of our New Life Celebration! SPRING BOOK AND BAKE SALE BEGINS TODAY! May 4 and continue through the end of May. Books, games Videos and DVDs may be brought to the church next Sunday 4 May. See Evelyn Clark for more information. MOTHER'S DAY FLOWERS The Resurrection Youth are selling Geraniums for Mother's day this year! How fun is that?!? Next Sunday 4 May will be the last Sunday to order, so hurry, sign up and pay right away. The plants will be in the Friday before Mother's Day. See the insert in the bulletin and place form and payment in the offering plate. ACT NIGHT THIS WEDNESDAY The meal theme is "American Picnic" for ACT Night 07 May starting at 6:00 PM. We will focus on the "Encourage" aspect of the mission plan and playing "Name that Lutheran". The Property Committee is in charge of the devotions for the evening. See you there! " A LOOK AT ISLAM" will be the topic for the Adult forum the first three Sundays in May. This brief three part series will explore what it means to be Muslim. Everyone is welcome at 10:00 AM in the fellowship hall.SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL YOUTH! We continue with what it means to be "Lutheran!" For youth 6th grade and younger the program is entitled "Most Certainly True!" Our older learners from 7-12 grade are still taking part in "Here We Stand," a Lutheran catechism-based curriculum. Sunday School classes for youth meet in the "Green Room" (the west wing of the building). SUMMER WORSHIP BEGINS 25 MAY 2008. Mark your calendars! Resurrection will be celebrating just one Sunday service through summer. Worship will begin at 9:00 AM and will include a more "contemporary" liturgy, with time for singing some praise songs prior to that. The summer schedule will last from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. THE LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY will change to Monday evenings for the summer beginning Monday 2 June. 7:00 PM is still the time and the fellowship hall is still the place. Everyone is welcome to come and study the bible readings for the upcoming Sundays. See Loretta Holmes for any further information. WE�RE STILL BUILDING!! We still need you. The Habitat/Thrivent Builds ministry project will be extended at least another week beyond May 3. Builders and site coaches (those with some construction experience willing to guide others) are both needed. Check the calendar at www.wichitahabitat.org and VolunteerUP for a date you might be available, call Monique Waggoner, Habitat Volunteer Coordinator at 269-0755, or ask our Congregation Champion (Barry Schroeder at 706-8303) to sign you up. Greeters to sign in workers and someone to provide a brief morning devotion and prayer are needed to. No experience is necessary for volunteer builders. AREA MINISTRY 5 GLOBAL MISSION FESTIVAL! Mark your calendars for Saturday 14 June 10:30AM�2:00PM as Area 5 churches and friends will gather at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Wichita to celebrate the global mission we all share in Christ. Representing our companion synod will be Bishop August Kruse, the first Russian Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Russia and Other States (ELCROS). Accompanying Bishop Kruse will Pastor Manford Brockman, Dean of the 8 ELCROS churches in the Russian far east. This event will open with a Festival Worship Service, featuring adult and youth choirs made up of Area 5 members (see insert). Each church is also asked to bring a special processional banner that represents their congregation. Each congregation will also be invited to create a large poster board display showing ways that their church participates in Global Mission. Following worship a luncheon will be served, along with special global mission exhibits and activities appealing to youngsters and adults alike. Presidents of congregations are invited to attend an informational lunch meeting 17 May, Noon, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
